Hi dear Parent,

I haven’t written for a long time, my friend. I had a lot of healing to do this summer after another heartbreaking personal loss. I’m very nearly Me again. I want to give a special thank you to those EP members who have sent positive thoughts my way. I appreciated each prayer and every suggestion, many of which brought a big smile!

Interest in The Golden Birthday Book continues to grow. The ebook celebrates that Once-in-a-Lifetime Event when your Age matches your Birth Date. Read about it here. http://www.GoldenBirthdayBook.com It’s the ONLY book of its kind on the planet!

I’d been wanting to write that book for the longest time, but life kept getting in the way. Now it’s selling nicely and I'm happy about that.

I also want to welcome all new members. We keep growing stronger. We are all shapes, sizes, colors and complexities. And that makes me happy, too. :)

We are approaching the holiday season. There are many from which to choose so you can take your pick. Celebrate, have fun, be loving and carefree. Now there's a very happy thought, yes? No matter what the world seems to tell us, we only need to re-member to stay happy. Seeking our Joy is our main job, you know?

I hope you enjoy this EP eJournal issue. I have included several reviews of products that work. Enjoy.

love, Joan

p.s. I want you please to visit EP Parent Marcie's web site and read about her wonder-filled book for young people -- "The Tree At The Top Of The Hill" at www.underthestorytree.com She and hubby Big Jim both blog now, too. Believe me… they ARE storytellers!

TRUE WEALTH

True wealth has nothing to do with money, jewels, real estate or stocks. It has to do with only four emotions.

The first is LOVE. Love is Life’s greatest treasure. Most important, we should not hoard it. If you love someone… tell them! Tell them right now. Right this minute. Don’t wait. Why? Because you might not be here tomorrow or they might not be here. So tell them today. Call them up. Write them a note. Make a special trip to their house. I don’t care how you do it, but I do care that you do it today. Because LOVE is everything!

The second fabulous emotion is GRATITUDE. When we are grateful, when we say thank you to family, to friends, to Creator, then we are showing the world how much we appreciate the people in our lives, the gifts and blessings that we enjoy, the hopes and dreams and great ideas that have been given to us.

Third is HEALTH. Good health is to be treasured and, the older I get, the more I believe that being healthy may be the biggest blessing of all. I have heard people say, “If you’ve got your good health, then you’ve got everything!” and every day it makes more good sense to me that this is true.

The fourth emotion is PEACE. To be at peace is to be calm, able to cope with a challenge in an easy manner.

So let us put this all together: When we LOVE ourselves and are filled with GRATITUDE for our good HEALTH, then we will have PEACE OF MIND. Finally, we spread the Good Word, the Good Feelings, and share True Wealth with everyone that we meet.

ATTENTION: I know it helps to remain grateful for what we have already. If you need some financial advice I can recommend a complimentary newsletter from http://www.SafeMoneyReport.com I've found the information of value and have also expanded my knowledge about investing in the right sectors at the right time. Perhaps you'll like reading it, too.

I'm also grateful for the opportunity to serve my 1500+ EP Parents. You, especially!

EARTH’S HEARTBEAT

Decades ago (when I was just a child!!! ;) I read a slim volume entitled, I think: "Heartbeat of the Universe." It explained how everything is One, and that each piece has a heartbeat, the beat depending on the size of the object.

So a hummingbird's heart beats very very fast, but at the other end of the spectrum is the heartbeat of the Universe, so vast that it is still beating on the "out beat."

Someday, the book said, billions of years from now, it will complete that beat and start the "in beat," which will eventually compress everything into that one tiny black Hole, head of a pin size, bit of The Beginning.

I always liked that story.

Love, Joan

IT'S REALLY TRUE, MY FRIENDS

The World is truly spinning faster... scientifically so!
* The resonance of Earth (Schumann Resonance) has been 7.8Hz for thousands of years. Since 1980 it has risen to over 12Hz. This means that 16 hours now equate to a 24 hour day. Time is speeding up!

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT… CHORES!

It might sound a paradoxical thing to say--for surely never has a generation of children occupied more sheer hours of parental time--but the truth is that we neglected you. We allowed you a charade of trivial freedoms in order to avoid making those impositions on you that are in the end both the training ground and proving ground for true Independence. We pronounced you strong when you were still weak in order to avoid the struggles with you that would have fed your true strength. We proclaimed you sound when you were foolish in order to avoid taking part in the long, slow, slogging effort that is the only route to genuine maturity of mind and feeling. Thus, it was no small anomaly of your growing up that while you were the most indulged generation, you were also in many ways the most abandoned to your own meager devices by those into whose safe-keeping you had been given. --- Midge Decter

There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our
children. One is roots; the other, wings.
--- Hodding Carter

JOAN'S NOTE: Imo, this is so true. We had five major chores to be rotated weekly among our five children. Fold and put away laundry (about 35 loads a week), help prepare dinner and set table, clean up and do dishes after dinner, take out the trash and vacuum home on Saturday, and clean the bathroom (yes, we had only one bathroom for seven persons who had to get out both the front door and the back door to their respective schools and work within one-half hour of one another!)

These chores were worthwhile and NEEDED jobs. They had nothing to do with allowances, though they could earn more income if they did extra chores. But these main jobs were nothing more or less than the responsibility of sharing our home.

Allowances were strictly to learn how to handle money. They had to save ten percent (I took them to the bank weekly where they climbed a little set of steps provided there so they could do their own business at the counter). They had to give ten percent - to church or to another charity. The balance they could spend or save toward a desired item, as they wished.

If they needed more income, they did more home chores, as I have just stated, they ran errands for some of the neighbors, helped neighbors in need clean their houses, cut lawns and other such work. They also had an annual summer Yard Sale where they sold "stuff" to other kids! :)

IMO, many children today are raised on silken pillows, as the saying goes, needing to feel needed but not allowed to experience that good feeling of being part of a family, part of a community, part of the working world.

The child learns, not only, how to work, to start a job and complete it, but also to experience that Fine Feeling of a job well done.

JOAN’S REVIEW for http://www.thetotaltransformation.com/

James Lehman’s CD program to empower parents to empower their kids is absolutely terrific. He and I are certainly on the same page and I totally and highly recommend his program. It works! Here is a note I received from James:

Good morning Joan.

I went to your website and it appears we have the same concept about the need to empower parents. In the Total Transformation I state “kids need to be empowered to manage themselves, and unempowered parents cannot empower children". Much too much emphasis is placed on kids getting the tools they need to manage themselves from resources outside of the family, instead of utilizing the family dynamic by empowering the parents.

I wish you all the best in your efforts to support parents. The parents you network with are lucky to have you.

Best regards, james

Tinkerbelle Mama's Scrambled Pancakes

Before we begin: FYI, I called my mother Tinkerbelle Mama because she refused to grow up. She had a delightful sense of childlike wonder that she held to until her last day on Earth. I feel quite certain she is spreading joy among the Angels now. :)

One of the most fun recipes Tinkerbelle Mama ever made for me as a child was Scrambled Pancakes. I have carried on the Tradition with my own children and now my grandchildren, and so I present it to you as a loving tribute to my beloved Tink.

Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3 Tbl sugar

Into a large bowl, sift dry ingredients together.

Add:
3 large eggs
1 Tbl vanilla
2 cups milk

Mix together, adding more milk, 1/4 cup at a time, until the mixture is thick as unset pudding.

Heat two heavy frying pans (cast iron is terrific if you have them). One is for flying; the other is for keeping the pancakes warm till served. Add a teaspoon of butter or oil to the cooking pan. When the pans are hot, turn off the heat under the warming pan, and you are ready to begin.

Pour some of the batter into a measuring cup with a spout or into a tea pot. Drizzle the batter round and round into the hot frying pan, creating sizzling paths of frying batter. As soon as the batter is crisp along the edges, use a wooden spoon to stir the pancake riverlets, gently stirring, stirring, until they break apart to form smaller, irregular-shaped pancake pieces. When they are brown and crispy, turn out into the warming pan. Add more oil. Repeat until you have enough servings for your family. Then heap on warmed plates and serve with syrup.

Now the fun begins! Plan to dine for at least an hour for each crispy piece must be examined before it's popped into the mouth and consumed. Why? you may ask. Because there are Mystery Shapes in every morsel! Special secret shapes - "Oh, look! A camel." Crunch. "Oh, here's a perfect elephant!" Chomp! "A rocket ship!" Nibble. "A roller skate!" Gobble.

And yes, I did once find a roller skate shape among my Scrambled Pancake Pieces, but I never did find the roller skate key. But Tink did.

Enjoy!
Love, Joan

A TRUE STORY: I’m reminded of a question one of my grown daughters asked me not long ago. "When we were little, were we poor, Mom?"

I explained that we didn't have extra money because Daddy made the living and I made the home, but that I had made sure we went to lots of free concerts, our free St. Louis zoo, the Botanical garden and art museum, as well as, saving for special events. All five of the children got to see one circus, one ice show, one rodeo, among other shows, and I had saved mightily the $70 necessary for the seven of us to sit "up in the clouds" in the top row at the opera house and watch the farewell performance of Rudolf Nureyev in "Swan Lake."

But she interrupted me, saying, "Oh, no, Mom, I know we had lots of opportunities. I just wondered if we were poor because you couldn't prove it by me!"

And this Mama's heart swelled with love. :)

MY CAR BOW

My friend asked me why my car had a bright gold and purple hood bow, and this was my reply.

The car bow tells the Universe I am celebrating my life. And when others comment about it - Love your bow! - then I get to smile or laugh outright and invite them to celebrate Life, too. I suppose it's another way for me to minister to the world. I can bring smiles to distracted faces. I can invite All to come to One party... LIFE! Now!

I believe I just might begin an international movement...
The Celebrate Life! bow :)
